Scientists Discover Marijuana Helps Heal Broken Bones, & Even Makes Them Stronger

The active compound of cannabis called the cannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD) helps in the treatment of bone illnesses, heals and strengthens them very much. All of these findings relate to a study which was done by researchers from Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University, it was published in Journal of Bone and Mineral Research.

A researcher named Yankel Gabet said that CBD during the process of healing the bones, also provides another process to start, which provides new mineralization of the bone tissue and enhances the maturation of the collagenous matrix. If a broken bone was treated with CBD, after it is healed it will be harder for it to break than any other bone in the body.

BONES CONTAIN CANNABINOID RECEPTORS

During the researches, two rats who needed to be treated were injected, the one only with CBD and the other one with CBD and plus the THC (the component which will get you high). After the rats were infused, they watched the healing process of these two rats compared the rest of the rats that were not infused with marijuana chemicals.

Also they concluded that whether the rat had CBD only, or a mix of CBD and THC, it didn’t provide any change or negative side-effects.

Y. Gabet also said that they found CBD highly potential and successful in the process of healing a fracture.

”Others studies that were done on the research of CBD, have shown that it is a safe compound and that researchers should proceed to clinical trials, and start testing human trials because this compound can help a lot in the healing of human fractured bones.”

Everyone was concerned about the thing if they got high if they were infused, but actually the body has receptors that can react to CBD, but luckily these receptors are not confined to our brain, therefore there is nothing to worry about.

Gabet also added “We respond to compounds of cannabis that way, because we are built with receptors that are activated by cannabis compounds like CBD or THC.

A huge research has found that inside our body in the bones are receptors which react to cannabinoid which prevent from bone loss and stimulate the bone formation.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA BENEFITS “UNDENIABLE”

The study is done on a growing body, so researches may find a lot more medical benefits from the compounds from marijuana, CBD too. This research may lead to a finding that we could use marijuana to treat illnesses like osteoporosis or any other more serious illness.

“The potential that CBD has, can’t be denied by anyone, simply it is a miracle provider” – said Y. Gabet.

Even if there is still a lot of work to be done and a lot of researching, we know even from now that a safer and better therapy can be delivered with marijuana for bone treatment. But everyone is concerned about the psychoactivity of marijuana. But luckily the main researching agent, the CBD has no psychoactive characteristics and is mostly anti-inflammatory.

Many benefits are provided from the medical marijuana, mostly it is used to reduce side effects of chemotherapy, reduce some chronic pains, increase the appetite in people with AIDS. It has shown its abilities in slowing down the progress of HIV and it regulates the blood sugar. Also there are a few researches on how would patients react with Parkinson’s disease and sclerosis.

CBD is an active compound, therefore it can kill leukemia cells, stop metastasis of many cancers that are aggressive.

A study that was done in 2013 and was published in the Neuropsychopharmacology journal, they found that CBD was very similar to an antipsychotic drug for treating paranoia and schizophrenia, but that drug had dangerous side-effects. As long as we know, no negative side effects were seen from the CBD, nor psychoactivity.

In 17 U.S states it is still against the law to use marijuana or use CBD for researches, so it is illegal under the U.S federal law. The use of medical marijuana is still legal in more than 22 states.

For Dravet syndrome (child epilepsy) the FDA approved the CBD as an experimental compound. So the FDA still classifies marijuana as illegal. But since the FDA approved some things started to change. From then clinical trials have started.
