For children the risk of suffering from a flu can be decreased up to 50%, only if they increase the intake of vitamin D, a group of doctors from Japan concluded this. According to some researches that were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the vitamin D is a vitamin that can only be accumulated when we are directly exposed to the sunlight, also this vitamin is very cheap, and it has no side-effects. The vitamin D is far more effective and beneficial than the anti-viral drugs that are used to treat flu and other diseases similar to it.
Only one out of 10 children was taking the sunshine vitamin, while the trial was in process, and one in every 5 kids was given a dummy tablet. The Japanese doctor who led this research, Mitsuyoshi Urashima said that vitamin D was proven to be more beneficial than the vaccines that are used to treat flu, he reported this to The Times.
Also it was proven again that the vitamin D is very effective, when at the very beginning of the trial, some children were out of the trial because their parents used to give them vitamin D without even knowing the benefits of it. Then once again it was shown and proven that the sunshine vitamin is able to reduce the risk of flu for about 1/3 than regularly.
A medical consultant and also a doctor, known as Dr. Damien Downing also said that the government loves epidemics because they are the ones that will impose their will. This doctor also suggested every patient to increase the intake of the sunshine vitamin, rather than get the regular vaccine.
Also there are some groups of physicians from the U.S and Canada that are recommending for everybody to increase the intake of 50,000 IU of vitamin D on daily basis, therefore they will be able to get rid of numerous chronic diseases.
Dr. John Cannell, also suggests for everybody to increase the intake of vitamin D as these physicians suggested (50,000 IU) as soon as we notice that we are about to have a flu or cold. In other words, if you try to understand what they are trying to tell us, is that the vitamin D is a natural antibiotic. It can easily fight against many microbes, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi.
During the winter months, everybody can be in deficiency of the vitamin D, mostly in the countries in the north. The vitamin D boosts our immunity system, increases the macrophage activity, and also prevents from inflammatory cytokines.
The production of anti-microbial peptides is also stimulated by the vitamin D, this is in the epithelial and white blood cells that are in the respiratory tract, which protect our lungs from many infections.

In the trial there were 354 children that participated. Also vitamin D was proven to prevent from influenza A, but not being able to prevent from influenza B. The study was led by scientists and doctors from the Jikei University School of Medicine In Tokyo, Japan, even though that it was double-blind.
Over a period of 3 months, all of the children were given 1,200 IUs of vitamin D on daily basis. In the first month of the trial, the kids that were taking the 1,200 IUs a day got sick as often as the ones that were taking the dummy tablet. But when the second month started, the kids who were taking the vitamin D supplements, were clearly healthier and less likely to catch a flu. Therefore it was clear that the vitamin D was helping them.
The scientists and doctors from Japan reported for the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, that the antiviral drugs were also effective, like Oseltamivir and Zanamivir, they managed o lower the risk of flu by 8%, but that percentage compared to the 50% lower risk that is provided by the vitamin D, is absolutely nothing.
The antivirals were proven to be more effective and beneficial than the vaccines, that were used for influenza virus. But both of these methods would fail whenever they were compared to the vitamin D.
The antiviral drugs are very toxic, and also they aren’t cheap, therefore not everybody is able to buy them. There is another thing why the vitamin D is far more better then the antiviral drugs. Not only that the vitamin D is preventing from bone fractures, it also reduces the risk of numerous diseases, such as heart diseases, cancer, diabetes and many other illnesses, like viral and bacterial infections.
The Japanese researchers also believe that, between December and March, is the period when our vitamin D levels in our body are at the lowest, which is also the period when most of the flu epidemics are around.
The vitamin D is stimulating and boosting our immune system, making our body able to produce many proteins, including cathelicidin and defensin which will prevent from numerous viruses and will trigger the cell activity.
A professor of virology at the Queen Mary School of Medicine, Oxford in London, Dr. John reported: “This study is timeless. Many scientists are on it, and will notice it. It is one of the most common things that happens to us in the cold months, everybody has a flu at least once. Therefore this area about the vitamin D will be even more researched in the near future.”
Dose and Vitamin D Levels Are Critical
